Buying the right moss.

Buying the right moss.

I have been testing out different brands of moss, dried moss, etc. Buying from a few merchandisers, I’ve come to form options that might be found helpful for those wanting to live their moss covered dreams.

The worst one, hands-down, is the brand that Michael's Craft store carries, “Super Moss”. All shades from their moss line leave your fingers and everything it touches stained highlighter green. It’s a stain that is very difficult to remove. The moss itself is nice but the staining issue is not pleasant. This is an unfortunate conundrum considering I prefer to shop at Michael’s for work supplies. Sitting at $12.99 per bag.

The best that I have tried was purchased from The lobby of hobbies, Hobby Lobby- “The Moss Collection”. The look of fresh moss that it provides is exactly what my products need, with the best part being not having stained fingers, nails, mushroom and all other materials that comes into contact with the moss. Being considerably cheaper is the cherry on top! Prices do differ across the U.S / Canada . That being said I paid $5.99 before taxes here in New Mexico.

I have tried moss from the dollar stores, “Reindeer moss”. I do not recommend as it’s not realistic and slightly more blue than other brands. If you have used moss from other companies, I would love to hear your input!
